Treatments

Treatments offered ensure a comprehensive mental health and trauma recovery service is provided to all. We only offer evidenced-based trauma treatments that are proven to be effective in treating trauma.

Anxiety
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Originally designed as a very effective treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD), DBT is now used to treat a wide range of mental health problems. It is particularly effective for people with a diagnosis of BPD and/or who struggle with acute and chronic thoughts of suicide and/or self-harm, problems understanding and regulating their emotions, who often experience high levels of intense distress and have problems making and maintaining relationships.

Depression
Radically Open Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (RO-DBT)

Most commonly used for people with disorders of over control, (such as avoidant personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, social phobia, eating disorders and chronic depression and anxiety). RO-DBT helps people identify and understand their over-controlled behaviours (e.g. perfectionistic, shut down, hyper productivity, never resting or relaxing etc).

Relationships
Eye Movement, Desensitisation & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based trauma treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with intrusive and overwhelming traumatic memories, such as those that occur with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This therapy accesses and processes traumatic memories, events and other adverse life experiences to bring patients to an adaptive resolution.

Couples Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT has a significant evidence base for the effective treatment of a wide range of mental health problems, including mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. CBT helps patients to identify and work on changing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that are causing them distress.

Trauma
Motivational Interviewing (MI)

MI is an effective and evidence-based treatment for people experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol. This therapy helps patients to understand their substance use/misuse. It also helps patients develop the motivation to change their thinking and behaviours around drug and alcohol use in a non-judgmental, respectful, and compassionate way.

Adolescent Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

This therapy helps patients to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their emotions, thoughts, body sensations and behaviours. Instead, it supports them to  accept and welcome these elements. ACT focusses on learning to accept hardships and inner experiences when they can’t be changed, and commit to making necessary changes to improve our lives where possible.
